Donna A. Miller
May 31, 1933 – May 6, 2011
Donna Miller passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Whatcom Hospice House. She was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada to William and Cora Umber McLean. Donna attended Ballard High School and the University of Washington in Seattle. She married Robert Miller on July 16, 1955 and raised two daughters, Lori and Kim, in Manhattan Beach, California.
She was very active in her community as a preschool teacher, scout leader, ladies club president and a real estate salesperson. Donna loved camping, water skiing and golfing, and was noted for being an excellent cook and gracious party hostess. Donna and Robert retired to Semiahmoo in Blaine, Washington in 1992 where Donna enjoyed golfing, entertaining, traveling and serving her community in various leadership positions.
During her last year, Donna decided that she would write a cookbook as a legacy for her grandchildren. She invited relatives and friends to submit recipes for the book and anyone who submitted a recipe received a free copy. Proceeds from additional books sold were given to the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation for the planned integrated cancer center
at the hospital. Her book turned out to be quite a success with over 600 recipes and over 400 copies distributed.
Donna is survived by her husband Robert, her daughter Lori Lenz,grandson Scott, daughter, Kim Mitseff, granddaughter Cora andgrandsons Nik and Keegan.
