Esequiel M. Carr, 77, of Blaine, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2010, with his wife of 56 years, Celia, at his side.
Zeke was born August 8, 1932, to Maria and Esequiel Carr in Mersedes, TX. He joined the Air Force at 17, and served his county in the Korean War. After his discharge, he met and married Celia Salinas in 1954, and they made their home in Brownsville, TX. In 1972 Zeke and Celia brought their children to Washington to visit his aunt, and ended up settling in Blaine after Zeke was offered a job at Intalco, where he worked for 26 years.
His sense of humor was infectious to the last. He enjoyed family gatherings, golfing, bowling, shooting pool, and playing card games. A doting grandfather, he is deeply missed.
Zeke is survived by his loving wife, Celia; their nine children, Esequiel (Casey) Carr, Richard Carr, Robert Carr, Mary Ann (Rudy) Carr, Luis Antonio (Cassandra) Carr, Diana (Jeff) Lawrenson, Cecilia Carr, Mark (Vicky) Carr, Blanca Estella Carr; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; and many friends and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held May 15 at 1 p.m. at the Blaine American Legion. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
