Blaine couple opens wine tour business
“I just wanted to show people that we have some really great wineries right here in Whatcom County,” said Blaine resident Hollie Joy Hilde who, with her husband Adrian, have opened a wine touring service called Whatcom Wine Tours.

Council OKs critical areas ordinance
After a long-standing debate over property rights and environmental protections, Blaine City Council approved a revised version of the critical areas ordinance (CAO) that increases protections for wetlands, as required under the state growth management act (GMA).

School board OKs $21 million budget
The Blaine school board passed a $21 million budget Monday night that avoids dramatic staff cuts by reducing expenditures in many areas, but unless revenues increase the future may require such cuts to balance the books.
Fab four girls help win cup
Goal keeper Anna Hewitt, defender Elizabeth Berry, mid Nicole Statham and forward Hope Wilkett, four Blaine girls who will play on the varsity soccer team this fall as freshmen, just helped the Whatcom Football Club (WFC) Rangers win a closely fought tournament at Beaverton, Oregon, last week.
