August is leak detection month in Blaine, Birch Bay
The City of Blaine and Birch Bay Water and Sewer District are designating August as “Leak Detection Month.”

After an overwhelming show of support Monday, Blaine City Council passed a resolution in show of support for city staffer Debbie Harger following accusations that she was given her position by dating a fellow staffer. The accusations were made by city council candidate John George, who is running for the council’s at-large position currently held by Charlie Hawkins.
Blaine couple opens wine tour business
“I just wanted to show people that we have some really great wineries right here in Whatcom County,” said Blaine resident Hollie Joy Hilde who, with her husband Adrian, have opened a wine touring service called Whatcom Wine Tours.

The Blaine school board passed a $21 million budget Monday night that avoids dramatic staff cuts by reducing expenditures in many areas, but unless revenues increase the future may require such cuts to balance the books.

Commission rejects garbage rate hike
