Twelve pristine European sports cars from Vancouver stopped in Blaine last Monday after clearing customs southbound on a
group trip to California. “We’re headed for the ultimate show and shine, the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach,” said member Lawrence Thiessen, who drives a Ferrari. The owners are part of Club Trofeo, Italian for “trophy,” and make the trip each year.
The group included two Porsches, three Maseratis and seven Ferraris, including a 2007 Fiorano once owned by Nicholas Cage. “It’s one of only 34 ever produced,” said owner Brian Walley. Parked next to him was a brand new Ferrari 458 Speciale, a 600-horsepower v-8 coupe that can go from 0 to 60 in three seconds. It retails for something close to $275,000.
