The city of Blaine, along with the Blaine Tourism Advisory Committee (BTAC), is accepting 2015 grant applications for projects within Blaine city limits that enhance tourism in the community.
The funding for these grants comes from the hotel/motel tax that is charged to guests who stay in the community’s hotels and motels.
The city is interested in projects that promote increasing visitors to Blaine and that result in more overnight stays. The grant funds may be used for activities and the operation of special events and festivals designed to attract tourists, which are defined as visitors who travel from more than 50 miles away. The funds may also be used to operate and maintain a “tourism-related facility” owned by the city, another public entity or non-profits formed under 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code.
Interested applicants are required to complete a BTAC grant application form and submit it to the city clerk by 5 p.m. on August 4, 2015. The grant application forms are available on the city’s website, cityofblaine.com as of Thursday, July 3 or at Blaine City Hall, 344 H Street.
