Anytime Fitness, located in Birch Bay Square, will be hosting its grand opening on Wednesday, April 23.

The 24/7 members only workout center opened its 5,000-square-foot space on February 24, with brand new, state of the art LifeFitness machines, and 65 on-demand workout classes that can be called up at the touch of a button. The recorded
classes are taught by industry experts and are rotated out every three months, so that members can always have the latest routines, whether it’s Zumba, yoga or Pilates.

“They’re the best instructors,” owner Anthony Hamilton said. “They never call in sick and you can work out on your schedule.”

Hamilton said his facility also hosts group exercise classes for an additional fee, but the beauty of the Anytime Fitness setup is that it is designed to work around your schedule.

“Everything is private,” he said. “There are no locker rooms, no public showers. You can use your key fob at any time of the day or night to come in and work out as much as you’d like.” There are individual uni-sex shower facilities and washrooms.

The facility also offers tanning beds.

Hamilton added that Anytime Fitness is the largest fitness franchise in the world, with more than 2,700 locations that members can utilize.

The grand opening, slated for Wednesday, April 23 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., is sponsored by Bellingham’s Boundary Bay Brewery and will feature food, door prizes and a photo booth.

“We’re going to raffle off more than $2,000 in prizes,” Hamilton said, noting that many of the prizes are gift certificates from local businesses as well as LifeFitness gear.

“Our focus is on enhancing the workout experience,” he said. “We’re giving people access to everything on their own schedule. No one else can do that.”
