Blaine School District commissioners accepted the resignation of board member Susan Holmes at the March 24 regular school board meeting, which was held in Point Roberts. The commissioners expressed their gratitude for her six years of
“Susan’s greatest strength has been her focus on learning and instruction,” said superintendent Ron Spanjer. A former educator who has been the vice principal of Blaine High School, Spanjer said Holmes was always “informing high expectations about teaching and learning.”
In the letter of resignation she submitted to the board, Holmes said the decision was prompted by a move out of the district to be closer to family in Ferndale.
“I have enjoyed my work with this dedicated board and my association with this outstanding school district,” she wrote. “This is a district that is the sustaining a drive to excellence in providing the best education for our students.”
The district will look to the community for someone to fill Holmes’ unexpired term, and Spanjer said they would schedule an information meeting in the second week of April to answer questions about serving on the board.
