Construction of the BP Heron Center for Environmental Education has been moving along steadily since October, but
volunteers are still needed to help with interior work such as hanging sheet rock and plumbing.
“We’ve got it to the point where it’s mostly weather tight,” said Birch Bay State Park manager Ted Morris. “The faux-log siding will go up soon but we’ll have to wait until spring before we can stain it. The weather has caught us a little.”
The Friends of Birch Bay State Park will hold a meeting December 18 to determine how many volunteers are needed and for what specific tasks, Morris said.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help with construction can call the park at 360/371-2800.
