For the past seven years, the Blaine is Beautiful committee has recognized the most beautiful yards in Blaine during the spring and summer with the Yard of the Week award. This year, the committee wants to beautify Blaine on a larger scale, and is organizing its first volunteer beautification project on Saturday, July 27.
Due to budget cuts, the landscaping in front of the post office has become overgrown and is in need of some help.
Committee member Sandie Miller, who is spearheading the event, is excited for the opportunity for the community to come together to work on a project that will show community pride.
“We are just asking for volunteer support for an hour or so to do some weeding to help spruce up one of the most visited locations in the community,” Miller said. Everyone is welcome to dig in.
The clean-up will start at 8 a.m. at the Blaine Post Office, located at 701 Harrison Avenue.
Please bring along your gardening tools, gloves and a bucket.
