Blaine is once again hosting its Old-Fashioned Fourth of July celebration and inviting thousands of residents and visitors to come and experience the festivities “Where America Begins.”

Blaine will kick off its 12th annual celebration on July 3 with an outdoor concert (see page 3 for details), and then continue the celebration on July 4 with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., a parade at noon and a show and shine car show with more than 200 classic vehicles in attendance from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We’re expecting a good crowd this year,” said Blaine police chief Mike Haslip.

A street fair will keep folks busy throughout the day at this family-friendly event and will culminate with a fireworks show over the bay at dusk.

“It’s one of the biggest shows in the region,” said Carroll Solomon, Blaine Chamber secretary. “We always draw a big crowd.”

There is still time to be in the parade, and no need to pre-register before the event. Parade staging will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will begin at 9 a.m.  Judging will begin at 11 a.m.

Organizers for the event recommend that those who wish to join the parade download a registration form from blainechamber.com and bring it with them to the staging area.
