Spectators cheered and organizers offered water and blankets as racers crossed the finish line at the 45th annual Birch Bay
Marathon held February 17.
According to runners, it was a great day for a run, with no rain and temperatures in the 50s.
Ken Lord, who manages the Birch Bay Hostel, said about 20 racers and supporters from as far away as Ohio stayed at the hostel for the race.
“People came from all over for the race,” he said. “I love the energy of the event.”
The race, which includes a marathon and a half marathon, is a timed qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
Organizers could not be reached for results of the race, and results were not posted online at press time.
