Whatcom Transit Authority (WTA) is considering a change to its 4:10 p.m. departure of Route 55. If approved, #55 would travel directly to Birch Bay Square via I-5, bypassing its current stops on H Street, Peace Portal Drive, Drayton Harbor route, Harborview Road, Birch Bay Drive, Alderson Road, Blaine Road and Birch Bay-Lynden Road. The change is needed to keep Route 55 operating on time, according to the WTA.

WTA’s board of directors will welcome comments during a public hearing at 8 a.m. Thursday, November 15 at the Whatcom County Courthouse council chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham. Those who would like to comment without attending the public hearing can send an email to comment@ridewta.com, or leave a voice message at 360/715-4500. Comments can also be mailed to Rick Nicholson, director of service development, at 4111 Bakerview Spur, Bellingham, WA 98226. Comments must be received by 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 15.
