It’s been two months since Ace Hardware re-opened its doors to the Blaine community as part of Whatcom Farmers Co-op (WFC), and so far things are going well.
“We’re very pleased,” manager Ken Rose said. “We’ve had good response from the Blaine community and now we’re trying to adapt to the needs of our customers.”
The store will hold a grand opening event from Friday, September 28 to Sunday, September 30. There will be a chance to meet the experts, with manufacturing representatives on hand to answer questions and offer demonstrations, and opportunities to win door prizes. Saturday’s featured giveaway is a Weber grill, valued at $329.
Hotdogs and soda will also be for sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, benefitting the Blaine volleyball team.
WFC Ace Hardware stocks everything from chicken feed and pet food, bagged mulch and compost, to pet beds, litter boxes, bird houses and wild bird seed. The store carries Craftsman hand and power tools along with DeWalt, Milwaukee and Ace brands. The extensive paint line includes Ace and Benjamin Moore brands.
Items that are too large to carry in the store, such as fencing, gates and landscaping timber, are available by order.
“We’re going to do the best we can to highlight the differences between us and the big box stores,” Rose said. “That means service and getting items to the customer as quick as we can.”
WFC Ace Hardware is located at 1733 H Street in the Blaine International Shopping Center. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit http://wfcoop.com
