The city of Blaine is looking for volunteers for the annual Fourth of July festivities.

Carroll Solomon, from the city’s visitor center, said people who can help during the parade are especially needed. Organizers are needed to show people where to go during the event and to walk with the parade and keep the streets clear.

The Blaine Chamber of Commerce is also seeking donations for fireworks. Donation jars can be found at the visitor center, the Pizza Factory, Sterling Bank and Paso del Norte. Cashiers are accepting donations at the Blaine Cost Cutter and the Market at Birch Bay.

People wanting to be in the parade itself should fill out an entry form, which can be found online at blainechamber.com, Solomon said. Forms are to be printed out and turned in on the day of the parade as participants line up at Peace Portal Way and 4th Street. The parade begins at noon.

This year’s festivities will include the Show ‘N Shine antique car show and a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. There will also be more than 75 vendors, including Sugar N Spice Mini Donuts, Michaela Fuller Hot Dogs, Absolutely Nuts, Rollin Smoke BBQ, Laura’s Attic, Joy Elsner Jewelry, I Love My Bling/Papparazzi, Healthy Tan By Brenna and more.

Those interested in volunteering should contact Debbie Harger at Blaine City Hall, 332-8311 ext.3332
