The Whatcom Humane Society will offer special reduced rates for cat owners looking to spay or neuter their pets during the month of April. Neuter services will cost $20 while spay services will cost $40. Appointments are required to take advantage of the special.
“By offering limited and affordable services to cat owners, we hope that we can make an impact [on pet overpopulation],” humane society director Laura Clark said. “The ailing economy and rising gas prices have made it difficult for many people to provide spay/neuter services to their pets.”
In 2011 the Whatcom Humane Society received more than 2,100 abandoned cats and kittens.
