Birch Bay will be ringed with fire on New Year’s Eve as local residents light their way into the new year during the annual Ring of Fire and Hope, sponsored by the Birch Bay Waterslides.

The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to the Birch Bay shoreline on New Year’s Eve to participate in the tradition of lighting road flares and welcoming the new year. Local realtor Mike Kent will once again be providing free flares, but attendees are also encouraged to bring their own, as long as the flares do not have spikes.

Free flares can be picked up starting at 5 p.m. on December 31 at the Birch Bay Visitor’s Information Center. For more information, call 360/371-5004 or visit The center is located at 7900 Birch Bay Drive.
