Former Blaine city council member David White died October 15 after a brief illness. He was 64 years old.

White entered the hospital on September 12 suffering from chronic pneumonia. The cause of death was attributed to lymphoma.

A Blaine resident since 1983, White ran successfully in two elections and served eight years in total on city council. He was first elected in 1992. White also served as a volunteer firefighter. Known for his fiery opinions, White was a frequent contributor to the letters to the editor column in The Northern Light.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Isadora (Christine) Yu­­­­­­ng, children Tiphanie Fowles, Natalie White, Robin White and granddaughter Ryenne Fowles. The funeral service took place October 19 at St. Anne Catholic Church.
