A Ferndale woman was forced into a roadside ditch off of Blaine Road after she swerved to avoid a car veering into her lane.

Jenifer Kolbo was driving south on Blaine Road near the intersection with Drayton Harbor Road on Friday, September 16, when she saw two cars rounding the corner ahead of her at high speed. As Kolbo approached the corner, she said one of the cars coming toward her veered into her lane in an attempt to pass the other car, forcing her to slam on her brakes and swerve into a ditch on the west side of the road. her car landed in the ditch just past a telephone poll.

Kolbo said the cars that forced her off the road continued north on Blaine Road without stopping. Neither she nor her grandson, who was also in the car, were injured. Kolbo's car sustained damage to the right side of the bumper, and its right front tire was flattened.
