Summer is winding down, although the weather thinks it’s just starting. Either way, there’s plenty to do in the Blaine-Birch Bay area over the next few weeks. Try a new activity or see how many you can do before the kids go back to school!

• Go crabbing (Thursday through Monday, but remember your license)

• Visit the Alaska Packers Association Cannery Museum on Semiahmoo Spit (Friday through Sunday)

• Play mini golf, take a train ride and race go karts at Miniature World

• Fly kites

• Build sandcastles

• Ride the historic Plover ferry to and from Semiahmoo (Friday through Sunday)

• Visit the local farmer’s markets for fresh fruits, vegetables and crafts

• Glide across the water on a skimboard in Birch Bay

• Rent a kayak, jet ski, scooter or surrey in Birch Bay at Paddle & Pedal Adventures

• Bike the country lanes

• Go bird watching

• Fish or crab off Blaine’s Pier

• Stroll through Marine Park at Blaine Harbor

• Check out the interpretive programs at Birch Bay State Park

• Take in a concert at Peace Arch State Park

• Sit on the beach during low tide
