The Port of Bellingham recently approved a lease with Bellingham eatery Scotty Browns to open a restaurant and lounge at the airport.
This will be the company’s 16th restaurant, with 14 in Canada and one in Bellingham’s Barkley Village.
“We are excited about this opportunity at Bellingham International Airport,” Scotty Browns co-owner Robert Walker said. “This ‘hybrid’ Scotty Browns will offer a casual and quick dining experience, while re-affirming our reputation of having great food, service and ambiance. We look forward to serving our traveling guests from the U.S., Canada and beyond.”
The restaurant will seat up to 50 people, with an additional 30 seats in the lounge, much smaller than the Barkley restaurant. The menu will be similar but more limited at the new location.
Walker said Scotty Browns plans to invest about $500,000 in the building and outfitting of the airport restaurant, and will hire about 25 people to work there.
The five-year lease requires that the restaurant be open to the public by March 2012.
