Next month’s Drayton Harbor Days will include some very tall visitors in the form of the Lady Washington along with her companion ship Hawaiian Chieftain.
The two tall ships will stop in Blaine for six days, arriving the afternoon of August 2 and shoving off August 8.
A number of walk-on tours and public sailing opportunities are available. The ships will be open for walk-on tours from noon to 5 p.m., August 3 to 5 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., August 6 and 7. A fully costumed crew will welcome visitors and answer any questions. A $3 donation per person is appreciated.
The ships will sail on the following schedule.
August 2, 7 p.m.: Lady Washington two-hour sail, $25
August 3, 7 p.m.: Hawaiian Chieftain two-hour sail, $25
August 4, 7 p.m.: Hawaiian Chieftain two-hour sail, $25
August 5, 6 p.m.: Lady Washington three-hour sail, $35
August 6, 2 p.m.: Lady Washington/Hawaiian Chieftain three-hour battle sail, $40-$60
August 6, 6 p.m.: Lady Washington two-hour sail, $35
August 7, 2 p.m.: Lady Washington/Hawaiian Chieftain three-hour battle sail, $40-$60
Battle sails feature a recreation of a typical late-18th century naval skirmish, complete with booming cannons.
