All lanes of traffic through the Peace Arch border will be temporarily closed Sunday due to the 88th annual Hands Across the Border celebration.

Traffic will be diverted to the Pacific Highway, Lynden or Sumas crossings from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 12 as Peach Arch State Park hosts a number of U.S. and Canadian youth groups in celebration of the relationship between the U.S. and Canada.

The event will include a youth parade of flags from around the world that will march through the Peace Arch to celebrate international friendships.

Customs and Border Protection expects the event to impact border traffic volumes and encourages travelers to consult www.cbp.gov for border wait times.
