Shore stewards offer free workshops

The Marine Resource Committee of Whatcom County will offer several workshops in Blaine this spring focusing on living near beachfront areas, erosion control and more, as part of their “Living With The Coast” series.  

Two classes are scheduled this month: The first class is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, April 23, and will focus on teaching local residents healthy beach habits, taught by leading fish biologist Dan Penttila. A second class on bluff erosion management is scheduled from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. later that day with a field trip from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., presented by coastal processes expert Jim Johannsen.

Both will take place at Whatcom Fire & Rescue Station #62 at 9001 Semiahmoo Drive in Blaine. To attend one or both workshops, please register at Registration forms are also available by calling the Shore Stewards at 360/647-1845.
