Welcome, you long-awaited April.
Now that spring has officially arrived we will be even more thankful for days of sunshine and gentle breezes, getting out and about, working in our yards and gardens and coming to the senior center, and enjoying the fellowship, well-planned activities, and the partaking of those excellently prepared lunches.
April events at the center:
Thursday, April 7: Lunch program. We will be learning about Shared Care.
Tuesday, April 12: Strength training class begins and meets at 2 or 3 p.m. This training class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays for eight weeks. There is a $60 class fee. Preregistration, membership at the Blaine senior center and a medical release are required. Come by the center to sign up and pick up the proper medical release forms. One must be a current member to sign up.

Saturday, April 16: Pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Pancakes, waffles, French toast or biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Adults are $5, children are $4.

Thursday, April 21: Don’t miss the birthday and Easter lunch. Music is with Jim Freeman country and other favorite tunes.
Friday, April 27: We will be introducing you to the Mason Bee, a native pollinator. Bees are active now, so it is a good time to learn about how they live, how to protect them, and why they are such great pollinators.
We will also have information on the Blaine Community Orchards for Resources and Education (CORE) available. Sign up for its free workshops and tours.
Saturday, April 30: Blaine senior center huge rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This sale benefits and helps provide vital programs for the seniors and the people of our community.
Items to donate to the sale can be brought to the center on Monday, April 25, through Thursday April 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mark your May calendars: The Blaine senior center will be hosting a spring tea on Sunday, May 15, from 1 to 3 p.m., with excellent tea and goodies, live music, silent auction, door prizes and more. Tickets are $15.
Would you like to bring your friends and set a table with your china and get a free ticket? Proceeds will benefit the Blaine senior center.
We are currently accepting applications for up to five positions on the board of directors for the Blaine senior center. We have developed a fact sheet that will help you decide if you have the time and skills to apply for a board position.
An application can be picked up at the senior center and must be completed and returned by April 22. Have questions about serving on the board? Call the office at 332-8040 for more information.
