Blaine resident Andy Ryser, owner of Designated Drivers taxi business, recently purchased a Toyota Prius for his fleet. He said it is Whatcom County’s first gas-electric hybrid taxi. While the initial cost of the car was high, Ryser said the car has just about paid for itself in savings on gas.
