Welcome to December and its bitter blasts of blustering winter cold.
Thankfully December also brings the Christmas season. Christmas is not just a day, time or season, it is a state of mind... a renewal of faith.
The message of Christmas is that we are not alone. Christmas season comes and faith and goodwill, peace, mercy and love dwell with us. Let Christmas be with us throughout the year.
Our Blaine Senior Activity Center abounds with Christmas fellowship. Come and enter into the celebration. Many activities are planned:
Friday, December 17: 12:30 p.m. Movie and popcorn. Anything but humbug, this adaptation of Charles Dickens’ immortal novel, “A Christmas Carol,” breathes new life into a venerated tale.
Saturday, December 18: Noon Movie and popcorn “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Dr.Seuss’ much-loved story about the real meaning of Christmas finally makes it to the big screen in live-action form.
Tuesday, December 21: Canine demonstration by Customs and Border Protection officers. Come see these officers and dogs in action as they work at our border.
These dogs have different functions such as narcotics, agriculture, currency, firearms, explosives and human detection. Also celebrate the winter solstice, not a part of our program, but aren’t you glad to see the days getting longer?
Wednesday, December 22: 12:30 Movie and popcorn: “It’s a Wonderful Life.” It’s a wonderful film, a holiday classic to be enjoyed by all.
Friday, December 24: Center Closed
Tuesday, December 27: 12:30 p.m. Fructose-free New Year. Registered nurse Cindy will talk about fructose and substitute sugars.
Wednesday, December 28: 12:30 p.m. Come play BINGO. We have great prizes!
Friday, December 31 and Saturday, January 1: Center is closed. Enjoy your New Year’s Eve and have a Happy New Year.
