Those looking for a variety of insurances and estate planning options now have more to choose from.

David Elton, of Langley, B.C., recently opened a small practice in the Loomis Hall building at 288 Martin Street in Blaine.

Elton has more than 20 years experience in the investment, life and health insurance industry. He is a past member of the Life Underwriters Association and a present member of the Canadian Financial Advisors Association (Advocis) as well as the Kiwanis, Blaine Chamber of Commerce and the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants USA.
He currently owns and operates Financial Benefit Inc. of B.C., where he is licensed as an investment and mutual fund representative. In Washington state, he is licensed to sell life, disability and long-term care insurance. He is also a group benefit consultant, he said.

When asked what brought him to do business in the states, Elton cited Blaine’s natural setting, quality of life and a small town community feel he and his family wanted to be a part of. Although currently a resident of Langley, B.C., Elton said he and his family are looking to own a second home in Semiahmoo or Birch Bay soon.

“I think Blaine, from a business perspective, is like a diamond in the rough,” he said. “I think there’s great value in the location, people and businesses that are here.”

Elton also said his certification on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border helps him serve customers with cross-border needs. He also sells travel insurance for individuals crossing from the U.S. into Canada and vice versa.
