Music lovers who want to support the Blaine high school wind ensemble will want to attend “Gershwin and Friends,” part of a concert series by the North Cascades Concert Band later this month.
The concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, October 30, at the Blaine high school performing arts center (PAC) and will feature music from American melody writers from the first half of the 20th century from “Strike Up The Band” to Hoagy Carmichael’s “Stardust,” Duke Ellington’s “Caravan” and various Irving Berlin melodies.
Half of the proceeds will benefit the wind ensemble’s trip to Japan in January.
NCCB is comprised of musicians from throughout the northern region of Western Washington.
Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for those 18 and younger. For more information, call 676-9905 or visit www.nccband.org.
