A Blaine man was killed Friday, October 22, when the truck he was driving rolled over on Interstate 5.
Marion Piete, 90, was driving a 2002 Ford F250 pickup northbound on I-5 at about 2 p.m. near Ferndale when he attempted to change lanes and overcorrected back across both lanes of traffic. The vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled. Piete was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Washington State Patrol troopers blocked both north and southbound lanes for about three hours while officials investigated the incident. The freeway reopened at about 5:30 p.m.
Troopers cited inattention as the cause of the crash.
