Whatcom County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call with reports of shots being fired in Birch Bay on Monday morning.

911 dispatchers sent deputies to respond to an 8 a.m. call from a Birch Bay resident who reported hearing a gunshot in the 8500 block of Harborview Road.

While deputies were on their way, dispatchers received another call from a 39-year-old man who said his girlfriend had shot at him through the bedroom wall of his house while she was outside.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with Blaine police and border patrol agents, responded and set up a perimeter around the man’s home. Deputies found the man had fled to a neighbor’s house but suspected his girlfriend was still inside his home.

Officers found the woman, 46-year-old Laura Cameron-Armstrong, inside the home with a gun.

Police were able to talk to the woman and take her into custody without incident. She was booked into county jail under investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault.

The boyfriend did not report any injuries.
