Here we are entering into the colorful month of October, and what an exciting month it promises to be.
Leaves begin their colorful dance as they gently fall, tossed or slung by some overly aggressive October breeze. Activities at the Blaine senior activity center also gain momentum, joining in the season’s merriment. You are welcome to join with us in our celebration of life and fellowship as we participate in the many activities planned.
Friday, October 1: Noon movie, “Celtic Woman,” the collective voice of Celtic Women in this stirring concert with New Age undertones.
Saturday, October 2: Noon movie and popcorn “Roman Holiday,” a European princess goes AWOL with a tabloid journalist and his sidekick.
Tuesday, October 5: Noon. Paul Dean of Dean’s Veterinary Service for cats and dogs will share some of his veterinarian experiences.
Wednesday, October 6: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Mystery bingo with mystery prizes.
Thursday, October 7: Noon. Information on Medicare Part D. 1 to 3 p.m. and flu shots. Bring your Medicare and supplemental insurance cards.
If someone’s insurance or Medicare supplemental plan is through Group Health, visiting nurses will need to be paid up front for the shot, then they can give you a receipt and claim for them to send in to be reimbursed.
Friday, October 8: Movie “North Face,” a 1936 true-life adventure of two German climbers attempting to climb the north face of Eiger in the Swiss Alps.
Saturday, October 9: Noon movie and popcorn, “The Notebook,” a tale of two young lovers torn apart in 1940.
Tuesday, October 12: 12:30 p.m. Tour of BelleWood Acres Meet at the center for a trip to Belle Wood Acres, tour orchards, sample products, check out farm store and more.
Wednesday, October 13: Noon, Senior Steppers. These are always very much enjoyed, don’t miss them!
Friday, October 15: Noon Movie and popcorn, “The Birds,” a 1953 Hitchcock thriller about the bizarre attacks by birds.
Saturday, October 16: 8 to 11 a.m. pancake breakfast This is a great breakfast, bring your family and guests.
Wednesday, October 20: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Bingo sponsored by Little Red Caboose. Fun and free!
Thursday, October 21: Birthday luncheon. Entertainment will be Elmo Creech, the balloon man.
Saturday, October 23: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. rummage sale. This is a really big event, be there. Anyone can rent a table for $15.
Wednesday, October 27: Octoberfest with the accordion man and beer samples. Come in and enjoy bratwurst, red cabbage, sauerkraut, hot potato salad and apple cake. Don’t miss this one.
Friday, October 29: Fall Festival. Come dressed in your favorite costume or as your favorite character.
Saturday, October 30: Noon. Potluck and theater in the round. Ron Snyder will present three true-life Sasquatch experiences. This sounds interesting!
