Those wanting to see the bounty of Whatcom County will want to sign up for the 3rd annual Whatcom County Farm Tour, a free, self-guided tour of local farms this September.
The tour, sponsored by Sustainable Connections in Bellingham, allows participants to enjoy leisure strolls through farm fields and orchards and interactive activities as well as a chance to discover the roots of abundant food grown in Northwest Washington and hear the stories of the hardworking folks who put food on our tables.
Tour-goers can ride in a horse drawn wagon through apple orchards and use their own pedal power to create an apple cider slushy at Bellewood Acres, go on a hayride with the kids at Mama’s Garden, nosh on super sweet corn or berry sundaes at Boxx Berry Farm, sample locally made lotions and creams at Grace Harbor Farms, sip on fine wines at Dakota Creek Winery, or become better acquainted with a cow, goat, bison, sheep, chicken, goose or lamb at many of the tour stops.
The following farms will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, offering a variety of tours, tastes and activities:
1) Bellewood Acres
2) Bellingham Country Gardens
3) Boxx Berry Farm
