The Blaine school board offered a detailed picture of its 2010-2011 school year budget and fielded comments from residents at a budget hearing held Thursday afternoon, August 12.
District business manager Amber Porter presented a slideshow explaining how the district’s budget will affect its programs and operations.
The district made a revised version of the budget available to the public on August 6.
During the 2010-2011 school year, the district expects to take in $20.8 million to its general fund while spending $21.3 million.
The expenditures figure is higher than the expected revenue because the expenditures include $412,333 carried over from the 2009-2010 school year.
The district estimates the 2010-2011 beginning balance for the general fund will be $1.9 million.
