Drayton Harbor Maritime (DHM) founder Richard Sturgill, c., received a $750 check from Semiahmoo Yacht Club (SYC) on behalf of Drayton Harbor Maritime to help keep the Plover in shape. He is pictured here with DHM secretary Merideth Goodman, SYC commodore David Baily and SYC vice commodore Chris Lilly Bachus. The SYC annually donates funds to the 1944 Plover ferry. Last year’s donation was used to install a much needed passenger cabin heater. This year’s donation will help fund the repair of the ferry’s aft port window frame and associated wood that has become rotten and needs replacing. The Plover sails from Blaine Harbor and Semiahmoo Resort between noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday through Labor Day weekend.
