Birch Bay residents who want to be a part of local history will want to attend a spelling out of Birch Bay in human letters at noon next Sunday, June 13.

The event, spearheaded by Birch Bay business owner Sue Brush, will be photographed by Bellingham aerial photographer Lyle Jansma. Brush owns Birch Bay Hair Care as well as Birch Bay Consignment and Thrift.
Brush said she got the idea when she remembered her daughter’s school photo, in which the students spelled out the name of their high school.

“I kept thinking of ways to raise money for the community,” she said. “I think the best way to help is to hire in-house help.”

The photo will be donated to the community to be used as post cards or prints, the proceeds from which will benefit community projects such as the Birch Bay Food Pantry and the Bay Horizon Park.

Those who would like to volunteer with helping wheelchair bound participants can call Brush at 371-5160. Participants do not need to RSVP.
