Those wanting to have a say in the development of a new playground at Bay Horizon park will want to attend a planning meeting at 7 p.m. May 26 at the Bay Horizon conference building.
The meeting is facilitated by Northwest Park & Recreation District 2 and Whatcom County Parks & Recreation. Rod Lamb, a design and development supervisor with Whatcom County Parks and Recreation, said the playground will be designed to accommodate kids of all ages and planners are looking for community input to help select the most appropriate playground equipment.
“We want to get input from the neighborhood on what they’d like to see and what kinds of playground equipment they want to see included,” he said. “We’ve had some meetings but we didn’t have a lot of attendance from the kids. We’d like to see more participation from the kids.”
Whatcom County Council approved $65,000 in funding for a playground in February the rest will be funded by NWPRD2.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October, he said.
