As Blaine gardens become abundant with spring blossoms, the Blaine is Beautiful Committee is on the lookout for outstanding yards and gardens to recognize with a Yard of the Week Award.

The first award of the season will be presented on May 13 and will continue weekly until September 16.

The criteria for being nominated for the award are the yard or garden must be located in the city limits of Blaine including Semiahmoo, as well as be visible from the street.

We will also recognize commercial businesses several times during the season.

Nominations from the community are encouraged and don’t be shy about nominating your own yard or garden.

Yard of the Week winners are recognized with a Yard of the Week sign in their yard, an award certificate.
Presenting the Yard of the Week Award to the winner is the highlight for the committee because it provides an opportunity to have a short tour of their garden and learn about their gardening methods.

The committee also has two master gardeners and a master composter who can provide information and answer gardening questions they may have as well.  This is the fourth year the city has presented the Blaine is Beautiful Yard of the Week awards.

The recognition of Blaine’s best gardens encourages community pride and inspiration for creating more beautiful yards and gardens in our neighborhoods.
