Those participating in the annual Birch Bay Road Race this weekend should take note, the 15K and 30K race courses have been changed because of construction along Birch Bay Drive.

Although those routes will no longer travel through Birch Bay State Park, organizers say they have adjusted the courses to compensate and ensure they will be just as spectacular.

The USAT&F-certified event includes 5K and 15K run/walks as well as a 30K run along the shores of scenic Birch Bay and country roads for serious and recreational runners alike.

Both races start and finish at the Water Slides on Birch Bay-Lynden Road. The routes proceed south along Birch Bay to Birch Bay State Park and back. The 30K will then circle Birch Point between Birch Bay and Drayton Harbor.

Aid stations will provide water, beverages and restrooms. Post-race snacks will also be available.
Day of race registration is allowed but must be completed by 8:15 a.m.
