A local non-profit organization has scheduled a luncheon and auction to benefit two local charities next week.

Women Sharing Hope (WSH) has scheduled their 11th annual champagne luncheon and silent handbag auction for Saturday, March 27 at the Semiahmoo Resort. The event includes a silent auction of thematic handbags, a selection of handcrafted gift items as well as raffle prizes. Because volunteers run the organization, 100 percent of the proceeds from the event will benefit Whatcom Hospice and Habitat For Humanity’s WomenBuild program. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased by calling 360/676-5811.

Organizers say WSH was founded by 35 women in 1999 to help fill a need where other local charities and organizations leave off. The organization has raised more than $335,000 during the past 10 years and hosts two annual fund-raisers benefitting local charities. WSH also uses membership dues to create a “community fund” to assist individual requests for help.
