Local church collects supplies for Haiti victims

North Bay Christ the King church is collecting supplies this weekend to help the relief efforts in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. The community is encouraged to drop off supplies in the trailer at the church, 4895 Birch Bay-Lynden road across from Birch Bay Waterslides on Saturday, January 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or Sunday, January 31, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The supplies needed are: Non-perishable foods including rice, beans, peanut butter, bottled water, powdered infant formula, dry Pedialyte; disposable diapers, paper or plastic plates and bowls; disposable silverware, tarps, flashlights, tents and first aid supplies. Clothing will not be accepted.

The collected items will be delivered to North County Christ the King church in Lynden where shipping containers will be filled and shipped to Haiti. For more information, call  371-8592.
