Blaine schools host holiday concerts this month

The Blaine schools music department will present two holiday concerts this month. The first is set for Thursday, December 10 and features high school musicians. The second is scheduled for the following Tuesday, December 15, and will showcase performers from Blaine middle school.

Along with the school groups, choral music director Andy Harmening has three openings in each concert for community musicians or groups to perform.

The Blaine Fine Arts Association will be collecting food for the Blaine Food Bank, and donations will also be accepted to help fund the Chamber Choir’s trip to New York City next April. Refreshments will be served at the
end of each concert.

Choir members sing big

On President's Day Weekend,  Blaine will send six of their outstanding choral members to join the Washington Music Educator's Association 2010 All State Choir next February. This is the third year in a row that Blaine has sent six or more choral members to participate in either the All-State or All Northwest Choirs.

This years vocal musicians include: Senior soprano 1, Michelle Berry; senior alto 1, Angelina Mak; Junior alto 2, Nichole Morell; sophomore tenor 2, Chris Poole; sophomore bass 1, Justin Finley; freshman bass 1, Kaleb Vanrijswijck.
