Habitat For Humanity in Whatcom County plans to raise the roof at their annual dinner auction being held next Saturday, October 17 at Semiahmoo Resort. Last year’s event raised nearly $50,000 from 300 attendees and organizers are hoping for another successful event this year.
“We were very pleased by last year's results," said executive director John Moon. “The community really pulled together to raise money for a good cause, especially considering the tough economic situation.”
Tickets are $50 and include a sit-down dinner with either salmon or a vegetarian option. Guests will have an opportunity to view silent auction items before the dinner. Items include various service packages such as a weekend get away, boat trips, hotel and dinner packages, cabin stays at Mount Baker, artisan creations from local community artists, landscaping services, local wines, art and photography. A live auction will follow the dinner with auctioneer and Blaine city manager Gary Tomsic.
Funds raised by the event will go toward Habitat For Humanity projects in Whatcom County. For more information, call 360/715-9170 or visit www.hfhwhatcom.org
