As usually is the case August brought to the Blaine Senior/Activity Center some truly wonderful events.  There was that gorgeous day at Hovander Park. Seniors from all over Whatcom County and beyond met and enjoyed meeting old friends along in the pleasant atmosphere there.

The weather cooperated with just the right temperature and numerous venders and their displays provided a great deal of valuable and interesting information.  Those venders also distributed many small gifts (like more than a year’s supply of pens, key chains, candy, note pads, etc.) and chances for many larger prizes which were distributed later on after the super  band music.

Yes, Elvis made his appearance at the August  birthday lunch! We do want to see much more of Elvis.  Mike Spinale did a great job as impersonator.  Also a Fire and Life Safety for Seniors program was presented by Jim Bleecker, Fire Marshall of North Whatcom Fire & Rescue.

After a wonderful summer, we come to September and the winter months loom ahead of us.  The Blaine Senior Activity Center right here in the center of Blaine has many  new and old friends waiting to greet you. No need to stay home – enjoy friends, fun, fellowship and an opportunity to connect and care for others plus a nutritious meal.
