Kyle Dhanani, a 2005 graduate of Blaine high school, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers of the American League last week. Dhanani, 21, has been a student at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C., where he played shortstop for the WolfPack.
“He got his growth late,” said his mother, Larissa Dhanani, “but once he did he’s done pretty well.” His playing stats say that he’s now six-two and weighs 195.
Dhanani was chosen in the 43rd round by the Milwaukee Brewers, who also have Blaine graduate Joey Paciorek playing for them. Dhanani spent some time in Milwaukee earlier this month being evaluated by the Brewers, who are projecting him as a third baseman.
Dhanani is a two time Canadian College Baseball Conference All-Star. He had a good season last year hitting .352 with 48 RBI, six triples, 16 doubles and stole 30 bases. Dhanani was assigned to a Rookie Advanced team called the Helena Brewers of Montana’s Pioneer League.
