Blaine Food Bank volunteers Elmo Creech and Margaret DeMaine received certificates honoring them for their exemplary work at the annual celebration of the Whatcom Volunteer Center Sunday. Elmo was one of five out of 64 fellow nominees chosen to receive the Hearts & Hands Award. Birch Bay resident Karl King was also given a certificate for his volunteer work with the Merlin Falcon Foundation.
