Bellingham Cajun/Creole restaurant, Bayou on Bay, will sponsor their first Dine out for Womencare Shelter in order to aid the non-profit in raising much needed supplies and funds.
Founded in 1979 by a collective of women, Womencare Shelter has provided safe, confidential, emergency shelter and support services to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence.
Today, Womencare Shelter has grown and provides shelter and crisis support services to between 275 to 300 women and children in Whatcom County each year and answers between 1,600 to 1,800 crisis calls on their 24-hour helpline.
The restaurant will donate a portion of their total proceeds on February 18 to help ensure the sustainability of Womencare Shelter and will also be accepting donations of needed supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, toothbrushes and garbage bags.
