Windermere organizes holiday basket food drive

The Birch Bay and Blaine offices of Windermere real estate are looking for donations of 14-ounce size canned green beans and cranberry sauce to complete their goal of 180 Thanksgiving baskets to distribute to local food banks.

Individuals can drop off the goods at any of their open houses or their offices at 9550 Semiahmoo Parkway in Blaine and 8105 Birch Bay Square Street.

Visioning workshops to
discuss rural development

As part of the next update to the Whatcom County Comprehensive Plan, Planning and Development Services has scheduled a series of meetings to involve the public in their work to establish goals, policies and impact fees for regulating development in rural areas of Whatcom County.

The visioning workshops are scheduled for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 12 at the Mount Baker high school cafeteria at 4936 Deming Road in Deming; 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 13 at the Bellingham public library at 210 Central Avenue in Bellingham; and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, November 13 at the Meridian high school cafeteria at 194 W. Laurel Road in Bellingham.

10,000 Villages craft fair this Saturday

The Good News Fellowship Church will host their annual Ten Thousand Villages Crafts fair for Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7 at their location in Ferndale.

The sale will feature handcrafted jewelry, home décor and gifts from around the world with proceeds directly benefiting artisans in those countries. Credit and debit cards, as well as checks, will be accepted.

The Ten Thousand Villages organization is a fair-trade retailer and founding member of the International Fair Trade Association and a member of the Fair Trade Federation, both of which aim to improve the livelihood of disadvantaged people in developing countries and change the fundamental structure of dominant international trade models.

Good News Fellowship Church is located at 1252 W. Axton Road in Ferndale.

Boys & Girls Club barbecue this Saturday

The Blaine Boys & Girls Club will host a barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 8 at Blaine’s Cost Cutter store to raise money for their local office.

Grilled hot dogs, chips and soda will be sold by donation.
