Ericksen schedules Blaine meeting

By Tara Nelson

State representative Doug Ericksen (R-District 42) has scheduled a town hall-style meeting for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 28, at the Blaine Marine Park amphitheater. A meet and greet social with refreshments will begin at 5 p.m.

Ericksen, a deputy leader for the house Republican committee, said he will speak on his goals and visions for the state of Washington and Whatcom County, including taxes, the economy, health care, transportation, border crossing issues and reducing government in general.

Individuals are invited to attend and share their thoughts on the issues important to them.

“It’s an opportunity for me to come talk to people about what they want,” he said.

Bellingham Democrat challenges Ericksen

Mark Flanders, of Bellingham, is challenging Ericksen in the 42nd District.

Flanders says he is a long time local political activist, printer and musician. Mark was involved in the Kerry campaign and an early and active supporter of Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
