The Opportunity Council, a non-profit organization that provides social services to those in need, has scheduled their 16th annual community school supply drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, to help Whatcom County children who are homeless or from low-income families.

Businesses and individuals can drop off their donation at one of the school buses parked at two locations in downtown Bellingham at 1111 Cornwall Ave. and the Cordata shopping center at 4200 Guide Meridian. KAFE 104.3 FM and KPUG 1170 AM radio stations will be broadcasting throughout the day and Fresh Start Espresso will be serving coffee and cookies from 10 a.m. to noon.

The agency also accepts financial donations to provide case management support for children in homeless families and to pay for school fees, transportation, class projects or extracurricular activities. Those can be mailed to the Opportunity Council, 1111 Cornwall Ave. Suite C, Bellingham, 98225. For more information, call 734-5121.
